Trudy's Kitchen in Idaho City has been named Idaho's best pie place by People Magazine.
Situated on Highway 21, the iconic kitchen servers cream pies, and they are large, eight to nine inches or so. But even before that, the pies were a staple of the restaurant's menu. This past Saturday, Trudy's served 295 slices, "One for the books" said Melissa Head, the owner. Only three people make the pies and there's a secret to how it's done.
The restaurant serves close to 60 different types of specialty cream pies ranging from classics such as banana and chocolate to unique types like S'mores.
