Wanted felon shot and killed after hitting deputy with car in Idaho Falls

According to the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, in the early morning hours of March 30, a Bonneville County Sheriff's Deputy was doing a vehicle check at the Gem State Park. The vehicle was occupied by Nicholle Lynn Lockyer, 38, of Bonneville County.

Deputy Patrick Crapo checked the status of Ms. Lockyer with dispatch and found that she was wanted for a Felony Probation Violation in Bingham County.

Lockyer was on probation for felony grand theft conviction in Bingham County.

Deputy Crapo awaited the arrival of another Deputy, Kyle Penney to arrest Lockyer for her warrant. Lockyer ignored the Deputy's commands to exit her vehicle and accelerated hitting Deputy Penney. He sustained minor injuries.

Both Deputies fired shots hitting Lockyer. The Deputies immediately administered first aid and lifesaving measures until an ambulance arrived.

Lockyer succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The East Idaho Critical Incident Task Force is investigating this incident.
